If you click on the button just below the option, Word displays a drop-down list from which you can select how many pages you want to view at once. If you have more than two documents you want to view, you can stack your open windows to see them all at once. To go back to the original size and placement of the two document windows, click the “View Side by Side” button in the “Window” section of one of the two document windows. Clicking will open both Word document windows. Now from any document window, navigate to View tab and click View Side by Side. The Zoom dialog box appears, with a Many Pages option. In Microsoft Word you can easily view two documents side-by-side and even scroll through them synchronously with a few easy clicks Open two documents to view them side by side. If you want to use the menus, choose Zoom from the View menu. Choose this, and you can see your side-by-side pages. If you are in Page Layout or Print Layout view, there is a Two Pages option at the bottom of the list. Keep Options Orphans and widows are lonely lines of text at the top or bottom of a column or page. You can (and should!) eliminate them by using the Keep Options features (Figure 5). You can also use InDesign’s Dictionary feature to customize how the program adds hyphens to words (see this article at InDesignSecrets). The “discretionary” refers to the fact that the hyphen is there if necessary (if the word is near the end of the line), but never shows up mid-line if your text reflows.
